Inspiring Sessions with Professor Jaswant

Posted on 4/07/14 by Rahul Sahni | Category: Events Sikhism | 1 Comments»

During a short period in June Professor Jaswant Singh successfully enlightened an eager population of over 200 Sikhs, in both Melbourne and Perth, with his interactive seminars on Sikhi and Gurbani.

Despite the cold winter weather in Melbourne Professor Ji successfully drew in a full house on his very first day of his series, when he spoke of the essence of Gurbani.

“He interacted with the audience by speaking-aptly- in both English and Punjabi, as those who attended included a mix of the young and the elderly” Jaspreet Kaur, SYA Melbourne Coordinator

This was followed by another four nights of just over 40 participants each night enthused by what Professor Ji had to say about Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s journeys.

“The sessions were stimulating and drew vibrant dialogue, viewpoints and questions” said Sarjoth Kaur, SYA Melbourne Coordinator

Professor Ji then delivered his series in Perth with an overwhelming crowd of more than 100 participants on both days, including a highly successful session in Gurdwara Sahib Canning Vale. Professor ji made it point to remind the audience how the key messages in the topics discussed are relevant today and can be applied to our everyday lives.

Ravinder Kaur, the SYA Perth Coordinator, noted “The discussions cleared a lot of misconceptions about some of the issues in Sikhism, and provided a fresh and insightful view on the simplicity, yet deeper meaning of our religion”

The Sangat was mesmerized. The sessions were extremely inspiring and some people shared that they experiences an awakening. The messages of Gurbani were so simply and clearly presented.

Over all we commend both the Perth and Melbourne SYA teams on the positive outcome of Professor Ji’s visit to Australia.
