Join us for a fun day volunteering to assemble birthing kits for distribution to vulnerable communities in India, Papua New Guinea and Uganda

Each year, over 300,000 women in developing countries lose their lives during childbirth due to preventable infections. By promoting cleanliness and proper care during childbirth, many of these infections can be avoided. That’s why we’re partnering with the Birthing Kits Foundation Australia to assemble essential birth kits. Each kit contains items designed to reduce the risk of infection during critical moments—before, during, and after birth—helping to save lives

Now what exactly is a birthing kit? They are really simple and contain just 6 elements!
Soap – to wash hands of birthing attendant
Plastic sheet – to avoid contact of mother and baby with the ground
Gloves – to prevent HIV and other infection transmission
Gauze – to clean the newborn’s eyes
Cord ties – to cleanly tie the umbilical cord
Sterile blade – to cleanly cut the umbilical cord reducing risk of tetanus and sepsis
