Sikh Youth Australia

Culture Care Health Expo & Pop Up Clinic

Following on from the great success of the previous two Culture Care “Pop up” Health Clinics at this year’s SYA Summer Camp in January and in April at Revesby Gurudwara we are excited to announce the THIRD community health clinic.

Our Sikh community has one of the highest rates of Cardiovascular and Diabetes Diseases in Australia. This popup clinic and health expo will give a free health check for our community – especially to our respected elders, aged 50 and above.

Venue: Glenwood Gurudwara, NSW
When: Sunday 23rd November, 2014
Time Start: 10am
Time Finish: 3pm

What will happen: The Pop Up Clinic team will give a health report which participants then can take to their doctor for further advice and action. Culture Care hopes that this will encourage our Senior Citizens to identify and access medical care, leading them to be more proactive about their overall wellbeing

What is Culture Care?

CultureCare© is a social healthcare project that developed from the 2012 Sikh Youth Australia National Leadership Development Program.

The CultureCare team has recognised that the Sikh and Punjabi community within Australia has rates of diabetes and cardiovascular disease that are amongst the highest in Australia.

CultureCare’s goal is to raise awareness about the high rate of diabetes and Heart Disease within the Punjabi community in Australia to help us all live longer, happier and healthier lives.
